Uniform payment products

Currence is owner of the uniform payment products PIN, Chipknip, Acceptgiro, Incasso/Machtigen and iDEAL and licenses and certifies banks and suppliers operating in the payment system in the Netherlands to use these products.

The Currence mission is to facilitate a competitive market and to create transparency in the uniform payment system in the Netherlands while preserving and continuing to develop the quality, security and efficiency of the uniform payment products.

Nearly everyone in the Netherlands over the age of 18 (and many under that age) have a bank account giving them a bank card with which they can make payments using the PIN or Chipknip products at more than 220,000 locations across the country. Account holders also make use of other forms of cashless payment such as Acceptgiro (the older Dutch credit transfer system) and Incasso/Machtigen (direct debit) and also iDEAL for online payments.

For us, the widespread use of these payment methods is perfectly normal. And that is the way it has to remain. The payment system in the Netherlands is efficient, secure and rapid. It is a vital element in the Dutch economy and therefore of enormous importance to the functioning of society.
